Storytelling (Photography)

Starting the night off right with some good friends. As the hunger lays wake, we venture out to find dinner.
Through Yelp, we arrive at our first option for dinner, ramen. The wait-list was too long to be considered.
Second time’s a charm. Inevitably we arrive at our favorite chicken place as my friend praises in excitement.
You can never go wrong with a juicy and crispy chicken sandwich. We go to this restaurant, Holdaak, too often but I ain’t complaining when the food is delicious.
Always gotta get boba to wash down all the food we ate. Dinner and then boba is a normal routine for us.
The sign that says “good food, good friends, good times” is the embodiment of our Friday nights together.
Watching the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Memphis Grizzlies. The Lakers win 117 to 105.

I chose this story because my friends and I always hang out on Friday nights, it is a routine for us. Friday is the only day we are all mainly available. We try to go to new places for dinner but afterwards we get boba no matter what. We consider this a normal Friday night.

I think I did pretty well to capture what our Friday nights are mainly about. I did not capture everything we do but I think that is okay. Everyday isn’t the same so these pictures show only our Friday night on February 21, 2020. The following Friday and the Friday before will be different in their own way.

I think the image about the sign saying “Good Food, Good Friends, Good Times” is my best image. The sign symbolizes what our Friday nights are all about perfectly. I couldn’t have said it any better than what that little sign describes.

I think the picture where my friend is having his hands up isn’t a “great” image on its own but is important to my story. You don’t see my friend’s face so you can’t see his facial expressions but you can tell he is happy. The image takes some abstract thinking to associate his body language with excitement and happiness. That specific image describes our friendship which is the basis of my story.

The one thing I would do differently next time is to try to incorporate myself somewhere in these pictures. I am not in one of these pictures but I am a part of the friend group. The pictures seen are from my point of view so it is implied that I am a part of the activities.

If I got a change to do another photo story again, I would tell the story of my Grandpa. He passed away a year ago but my family visits him at least once a month at the cemetery. I would like to show my love and appreciation for him. With my photos, I can keep his memories alive for myself and my family.
