Drinking & Drawing

I enjoyed sketching the works that dealt with the Coffee Bean cup. The coffee cups came out pretty well in my opinions so that is why I enjoyed sketching the coffee cups the most out of the six sketches. The tree sketches were a little difficult but more specifically about the tree leaves. I was not able to draw good leaves to my trees. Lastly, the portrait sketch was the toughest because I can’t draw people very well but my sketch came out pretty well, above my expectations. Overall sketching was fun but I probably won’t sketch again because of a time constraint and I like to do other things like being on my computer.

If I practiced drawing for over 1,000+ hours, I would probably get better overall but I would want correct guidance. If I am practicing the wrong technique over and over again then I would never get better. However, as they say “Practice makes perfect”. As I practice, I will learn some tips and tricks to make my drawings much better and more realistic.

I am a Computer Science major. To be honest, for my major, simple sketching wouldn’t be used in my major. My job would focus on coding files that have nothing to do with pencil and paper. The only thing I can think of that sketching can be used would be to create a logo that I put into my application or create assets for game development. Nonetheless that is more graphic design which can be associated with my major.

Drawing can be a language because you are able to create something from your thoughts. You can make a story that speaks to a person. The drawing can connect with a person culturally, emotionally, and even physically depending on the work. Images can be used to communicate. For example, emojis and gifs are used everyday to convey a feeling without saying words. Drawings can definitely say things that are hard to say. If you can’t make out the words then the drawing can hold your emotions to be interpreted by that person.
